Import a Resource Structure

  1. Select Project Data > Resources in the Navigation Menu. The Manage Resources tab window displays.
  2. Click on the Structure [Select] dropdown in the Ribbon Menu and select the resource structure you want to import data into.
  3. Click Import in the Ribbon Menu.
  4. Navigate to the resource structure file you want to import, select the file and click Open. The import process compares the existing resource structure data to the data to be imported and displays the results in the Import tab window. Notice the Import Row check box and Import Status columns for each resource row. The Import Status column may be set to "No Change", "Insert", or "Update" for each row depending on the content of data to be imported.

    Tips:

The data in the resource structure does not change until you click Import, so you have an opportunity to scan the columns and rows for any potential errors or unexpected content. You can change the Import Row check box setting to exclude rows you don't want to import. Or, cancel the process and make corrections to the file before you import the data.

Notice the Back option in the Import tab window. Clicking Back displays a Mapping tab window. For each resource structure Required Column, map it to the applicable import File Column from the dropdown. Once you move to the Mapping tab, you must complete the mapping. Click Next to move back to the Import tab window.

  5. Click Import. A Messages window displays the results of the import process. Read the messages to verify the resource structure imported without any errors.
  6. Click OK. EVMax assumes you want to import the resource calculation results as the next step in the import process.
  7. Navigate to the resource calculation results file you want to import. Assuming you followed the file export naming conventions, the file includes the text "_calc" in the file name. Select the file and click Open. The import process compares the existing resource calculation results data to the data to be imported and displays the results in the Import tab window. Notice the Import Row check box and Import Status columns for each row. The Import Status column may be set to "No Change", "Insert", or "Update" for each row depending on the content of data to be imported.

    Tips:

Depending on what you want to do, you don't have to import the resource calculation results when you import the resource structure data. Simply click Cancel instead of selecting the calculation results file to import. You could also just import the calculation results data and not the resource structure data.
